Your donation of coloring supplies, markers, whiteboards, and more supports far more than classroom materials. It strengthens our commitment to fostering a learning environment grounded in culturally responsive pedagogy for the brilliant Black and Brown children of Brownsville.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, identity, voice, and lived experience are honored as essential elements of learning. These new tools allow my students to express themselves more fully, to see their stories reflected in their work, and to engage with content in ways that celebrate who they are. The markers and coloring supplies help them illustrate narratives connected to their cultures, families, and communities. The whiteboards give them the space to think out loud, collaborate, revise, and grow with confidence.\r\n\r\nYour generosity sends an important message to my students: that they are valued, that their backgrounds are assets, and that their education matters deeply to people beyond the borders of their neighborhood. Many of my students rarely see this kind of affirmation, and your support nurtures both their academic development and their sense of self-worth.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us sustain a classroom where students' identities are uplifted, where their voices are centered, and where their brilliance is recognized every day. Your kindness makes our work possible, and we are profoundly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1756785083876,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-young-scholars-through-cultur/9421874/","projectTitle":"Empowering Young Scholars Through Culturally Relevant Resources ✨","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. James","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9755518_orig.jpg?crop=1356,1355,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736553168392","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9755518"},{"teacherId":6013025,"projectId":9683243,"letterContent":"My gratitude can not be expressed enough! Our classroom was in need of a printer that would allow myself to make activities and modifications to different tasks provided. My scholars love to receive sheets and tasks that are as vibrant as my slides. Now with your help, I am able to promote more differentiation within my tasks needed for practice.\r\n\r\n\r\nI am happy to be able to put to use my large white board during small group instructions. Afterwards, they will discover the history of the space race and how it connects to our present day of knowledge of space. \r\n The children have been ecstatic using science and literacy to discover and teach others of plants and vegetation. This means, I really want to allow my scholars to have a say in how they sit, where they sit, and what they sit in or on during their learning. I believe it further allows them be more accountable for their learning as they engage in activities and tasks in a more comfortable way in that moment. Flexible seating is about providing options, but it also about promoting voice and choice. That is exactly what this project did for our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy co-teacher and I engage in parallel teaching throughout the day. The stools are useful for my small groups at the guided table where I conduct my mini lessons. The stools are meant to promote sensory input and in turn motivation. The cushions are used on the floor when students are asked to join the meeting area. They promote collaboration for our scholars to be easily paired up or work in groups and even comfort so that they wont have to sit flat on the ground. Overall, this project is allowing our scholars to build community as they learn to share and take turns using the items that are accessible. \r\n\r\nIt always an amazing feeling when a project is fully funded and received.
