Students have been enjoying the comfortable seat and fun configurability of it. \r\nWhen students saw it the first day and realized that it could be reconfigured they were so excited. We had indoor recess that first day and they got a chance to build things with the sofa and experiment with different things they could do with it. Their imagination was amazing - we had pieces that were horses to ride, castles to play in, and games being created. Everyone had the most fun!\r\nOne way that we have been using it regularly in the class is when students have silent reading time, they set up the couch in a comfortable position and read. Several of them like to backbend over it and read upside down (guess they are made of rubber!) Several students that have to wait for car pick up use it to play learning games after school as well. It has become a well used and loved piece in our class by my students and other students that come to visit.\r\nI anticipate our couch will continue to be an integral part of our class library for years to come. My students have enjoyed using the whiteboard as an extra resource in our classroom. It has provided a hands on learning activity to practice writing sentences. It also has provided a space in our classroom where students can take ownership of their learning with mentor sentences. When we incorporate mentor sentences in our classroom, students take turns coming to the board labeling different aspart of a sentence. They also have the chance to share with the class and explain their own thinking.
