It might seem like a small thing, but this rug has made a huge difference in our day-to-day life. It's become our go-to spot for everything: morning meetings, storytime, group discussions, and even some much-needed quiet moments. The kids absolutely love it.\r\n\r\nThere's just something about having a cozy spot to gather that changes the whole vibe. It's made our classroom feel more welcoming and has helped build a real sense of community. The students know that when we meet on the rug, it's time to connect, listen, learn, and be together.\r\n\r\nHaving a defined space also helps with routines—everyone knows where their spot is, which keeps things calm and organized (and saves me a lot of redirecting!). From day one, the rug became the heart of our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe're so grateful for your support—you've made our learning space warmer, more engaging, and a lot more comfortable. Because of you, our classroom now has a brand-new learning cart and easel, and we couldn't be more thrilled!\r\n\r\nThe moment it arrived, my students' eyes lit up with excitement. This easel has already become a central hub for our learning — from morning messages and phonics lessons to math strategies and student-led discussions. It's more than just a piece of furniture; it's a game-changer. The mobility of the cart allows us to take our learning all over the room, adapting to different needs and making small group instruction more effective and engaging than ever before.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has not only brought a valuable tool into our classroom but has also shown my students the power of generosity and community. They're amazed that someone they've never met believes in their education and wants to help them succeed — and that's a lesson that will stay with them far beyond the classroom walls.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our learning environment richer, more dynamic, and more joyful. When I was first inspired to create this project, I had just returned from a conference. I thought out what might go in each kit, and then I went scouring the internet for supplies. I created a list and then submitted my proposal to CMC North. Supplies trickled in a little at a time and I had to organize everything. I wanted to make sure the kits lasted, so I also made choices about what needed to be laminated. I asked my principal to help with some color printing. I cut and pasted some things together, made labels, created a document with important information for finding what you need. I had no idea my dream was so big! After getting these initial steps done, I realized I did not have everything needed for my kits. I asked around school for supplies that were not being used, and then realized I had to write another grant (this is where Donor's Choose come in!) asking for more supplies. It took countless hours to put these kits together. Then, I had to meet with our librarian to get them coded and added into our system. So a year later, I finally was ready to present to our staff. Now all staff at our site have access to these kits to check them out for sub plans, for after school programs, for small groups, or for families to check out as a fun family activity. Already at least a handful have been checked out and I'm hearing encouraging words on campus about what a great resource these kits are. Thank you again for your patience, your funding, and most especially in your belief in projects like this that make learning more accessible and exciting for all!","fullyFundedDate":1724211473801,"projectUrl":"project/take-home-activity-kits/8507525/","projectTitle":"Take Home Activity Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Herrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6501025_orig.jpg?crop=2257,2257,x342,y574&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1560973189726","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-herrell"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40078","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":436,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":81.3,"schoolId":40078,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Boulder Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Boulder Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-lorenzo-valley-unified-school-district/boulder-creek-elementary-school/40078"}
