To most people, a box of pencils and glue sticks might not seem like a big deal, but in a 7th-grade science lab, they are gold! Before this project was funded, we spent way too much time at the start of every class \"hunting and gathering\" for a pencil that worked or a glue stick that wasn't dried out. When the kids saw the new materials, there was honestly a cheer. Having easy access to materials has changed the whole vibe of the room; they can just grab what they need and dive straight into the science.\r\n\r\nWe put these supplies to use right away while studying cells. My students were finally able to cut, paste, and color-code their own cell diagrams in their interactive notebooks without having to wait ten minutes to share a single bottle of glue with five other people. Several of my students were so proud of how professional and organized their notebooks looked as they labeled their DNA models. Having the right tools allowed them to focus on the details of their work and really take pride in being researchers.\r\n\r\nOur next big step is diving into genetics! We're about to start building Punnett squares to predict different traits, and having these notebooks organized and ready means we won't miss a beat. Every student now has a dedicated place to track their data and show off what they've learned. You didn't just give us \"stuff\" but you gave us back our class time and helped my students feel a true sense of accomplishment in their hard work. We appreciate it so much!","fullyFundedDate":1771012002779,"projectUrl":"project/stop-the-search-supplies-for-success-in/9998629/","projectTitle":"Stop the Search! In a room with many different languages, things are always moving! Before these arrived, I'd often see a student struggling with a tough science concept, leaning over to whisper to a friend who spoke their language. While it's great they want to help each other, that friend usually had their own assignment to finish, too. Now, these iPads act like a \"digital buddy.\" If a student gets stuck on a word, they can quickly look it up or see a visual of it on the screen without having to pull a classmate away from their own learning. It keeps everyone on track and makes the room run so much smoother.\r\n\r\nThe kids are honestly most excited about how interactive everything is. They've been using apps where they can record themselves speaking or draw out their ideas when they don't have the English words yet. There's a certain \"cool factor\" to using a tablet that makes them feel like they're part of the modern world, not just \"the kid who is still learning the language.\" It's turned a lot of frustration into \"Aha!\" moments.\r\n\r\nI have one student in particular who was really struggling to keep up with our social studies readings. He used to spend half the period waiting for a friend to translate instructions for him. Since we started using the iPads, he's been able to use a \"speak-to-text\" tool to hear the lesson in his native language while following along in English. The change in his face when he finally \"got it\" on his own was incredible. He went from waiting for help to jumping right into the activity. You've given my students a sense of independence that is just priceless.","fullyFundedDate":1766537274774,"projectUrl":"project/ipads-to-the-rescue-2/9690367/","projectTitle":"iPads to the Rescue 2","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. H","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7463432_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768404285174","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7463432"},{"teacherId":10239443,"projectId":9879455,"letterContent":"I would like to thank each and every person that was able to donate to my classroom. The iPads have been a huge help in supporting their learning. Students are able to use translation tools, visuals, and audio support to better understand lessons and classwork. This has helped them feel more confident and successful when learning new content in English.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is being able to learn in ways that meet their individual needs. They enjoy using iPads to listen to directions, look up words they don't know, and show what they know through typing, recording, or interactive activities. I've seen students who were once very quiet become more engaged and willing to participate. Some students who struggled to complete work independently are now able to do so with the help of these tools.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students feel more supported and included in the classroom.
