The book titles that I have selected for my students will be mainly used for guided reading groups. I will also have the books available for students to read during silent reading or partner reading times. Students will have an opportunity to read about diverse characters that are more relatable to them. I think that using graphic novels will also foster a wider interest in reading material. The goal is to get my students excited about reading every day and to know that it's okay to read different things. I want to be able to provide reading opportunities that feature diverse characters and to show my students that their cultural background is important and should be celebrated.
