One of the biggest impacts I've noticed is how much more engaged students have become. Beyond academics, these resources have helped meet everyday needs. Students now know exactly where to come if they need lotion, socks, or even a small snack, especially those who stay after school. Having those needs met has created a sense of comfort and stability that carries directly into their learning.\r\n\r\nI've seen this especially across both 6th grade teams, where student engagement has noticeably increased. When students feel cared for and supported, they show up differently. They participate more, stay focused longer, and are more willing to try.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were excited and curious. There was an immediate sense of appreciation, and many of them expressed how helpful it would be for them personally. It created a positive classroom environment right away.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we plan to continue using these resources to support both the academic and personal needs of our students. Our next steps include building on that engagement through collaborative lessons, hands-on activities, and projects that allow students to take ownership of their learning. Because their basic needs are being met, they are more prepared and motivated to fully engage in these opportunities.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity. Your support is truly making a difference in our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1764636916963,"projectUrl":"project/caring-beyond-the-classroom/9724323/","projectTitle":"Caring Beyond the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10268042"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16488","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":495,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":97,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":50.8,"schoolId":16488,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Blackburn Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Blackburn Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/jackson-public-school-district/blackburn-middle-school/16488"}
