Our school is located in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, and with our air conditioning currently broken, the recent heat has made our classroom especially uncomfortable. We have had days with temperatures reaching over 90 degrees, and your support will make a huge difference in helping our students stay cooler and more comfortable throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nThis cooler will have a direct impact on my kindergarteners' ability to focus, learn, and participate. There was much cheering when I announced that we'd secured the fossil dig materials. \r\n\r\nWe used the fossil dig supplies at the end of the school year, as a celebration at the end of our Sedimentary Rock Formation science unit. This was my fourth graders' first year receiving structured science lessons, and their excitement and engagement was beautiful to see. With this project, they were able to act like partner paleontologists, carefully excavating real fossils and identifying them in charts and reference books. They explored the geologic time that the creature lived in and observed and sketched each specimen.
