Staff and teachers were amazed that our classroom received a slushie machine. Many requests were made to taste a beverage from our machine. Sometimes we have students that are not in my class but who are visiting for the day. They get excited if it's a slushie day. Our slushie machine also has been lent out for events such as Parent Meetings. \r\nOur machine is mainly used on days that my class has yoga class and for a PBIS reward on Fridays. We have tried a few different flavors. Peach is currently the least favorite. My class has learned how to measure out correctly various recipes, and know how to change the states of matter. They definitely like to watch a liquid change into a frozen drink. One scholar really enjoys helping me clean the machine! Who would have thought that would happen? One of my favorite moments was during a recent reading rotation—students were able to choose a stool, spread out comfortably, and fully engage in their tasks. I noticed increased focus, better collaboration, and fewer distractions because students were able to move and sit in ways that worked best for them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the stools, they were beyond excited! They immediately started talking about where they wanted to sit and couldn't wait to try them out.
