One of them - his favorite seat are the block stools. This has given him stability and a grounded feeling that he his undesirable behaviors have greatly diminished AND he is participating more in whole group music discussions! Another - she loves the yoga balls. She is a very energetic young girl who tends to wander during class. With these yoga balls, she's able to bounce quietly to help her focus. She noticed that these yoga balls have a weight pack inside them and she told me it helps remind her to not roll around the room while using it.\r\n\r\nMy district adopted a new music curriculum resource so we are using these seating options to help us learn the new struggle that is this new curriculum. I am the instructional facilitator and get the privilege of working with all teachers and students. This year we have started a new foundational skills curriculum called Structured Literacy. This curriculum has many hands on activities that task students with using letter tiles to build and manipulate words. The tiles, in baggies, became hard to manage making what should be an engaging activity a frustrating one. The letter organizers have created spaces for each tile to have an individual location, making them easy to find for word building.\r\n\r\nThe students were so excited to see the bins and the way that their letters were organized. We were able to have some volunteers who put together the letter organizers for students, so they were ready to go when they came into the classrooms. They couldn't stop talking about all the things they have seen the containers used for before (like beads or fishing), but had never seen them used for letter tiles. They were happy that the tiles were super easy to find and word building became fun again.\r\n\r\nThe students have found that having organized materials makes activities so much more fun. You get to spend the majority of the time working with letters instead of searching for the letters. Thank you again for your donation that made this happen. Without you, students would still be stuck in frustration instead of enjoying the fun of word building.","fullyFundedDate":1727882791427,"projectUrl":"project/letter-organizers/8463907/","projectTitle":"Letter Organizers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Assmann","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8785703_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718934876709","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8785703"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_79036","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":268,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":18,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"6.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":59.9,"schoolId":79036,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Benson West Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Benson West Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nebraska/omaha-public-schools/benson-west-elementary-school/79036"}
