The students are excited to be playing full orchestra music. This is a relatively new endeavor, having a full orchestra, so the library here has a handful of appropriate music to read. Most of what we have is too difficult, or not on our approved list of music to take to the assessment festival. \r\nWhen I realized DonorsChoose was having a text-specific fundraiser I jumped at the chance to get new music for our kids. Cancion Mexicano is more folk-danced based. The Finale is from Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, but it is important to remember that this music is arranged to be read by developing musicians. \r\nBoth of these pieces are in the same key, but at different difficulty levels. So it offers a good challenge. These pieces will be manageable for the string players, and quite the challenge for the wind and percussion students. I apologize for my delayed gratitude. Emerging from Virtual Learning due to Covid has been quite a transition.\r\n\r\nHowever, with your support, my students were better able to create more in-depth writings because they were listening to their own voices on the recorders. I had 8 students with autism in my class who were very excited to use the voice recorders. They record themselves and automatically shared more details verbally than they would have had they simply written. Most children are stunted by the need to spell correctly and to impress the teacher. So, they write as little as possible. Verbal recordings help decrease the anxiety because they are now able to \"speak\" their real thoughts as if talking to an actual person. We all know how easy it is to talk about ourselves to others; sometimes we go on and on.
