What touched me most was how quickly they started thinking about including one another: students asked how they could adapt games so everyone could join in, whether they were beginners or experienced players. Their excitement carried right into recess, where they eagerly took turns choosing equipment and setting up activities together. Your generosity gave us more than sports supplies—it gave our students fresh ways to connect, build confidence, and enjoy being active.\r\nmuch as winning. Students will help create simple games using the volleyballs, footballs, soccer balls, and cones, then work in rotating teams so everyone gets a chance to participate. Before we begin, we'll agree on sportsmanship goals: invite others to join, take turns, encourage teammates, and respond kindly when a game doesn't go as planned. We'll also bring in math by measuring playing areas, tracking participation, and creating a class graph of the games students enjoyed most. At the end, we'll reflect on what helped teams communicate and make activities welcoming. Throughout the week, students earn \"classroom cash\" for demonstrating positive behaviors like helping classmates, showing perseverance on challenging math problems, completing homework, and being kind leaders. They keep their earnings in personal \"wallets\" and budget carefully for the items they want most. Some students save up for weeks to afford the bigger prizes, while others enjoy spending their earnings on smaller treats each week. The store has become a powerful tool for teaching not just good behavior, but also financial literacy, delayed gratification, and goal-setting.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction:\r\n\r\nWhen the box of toys arrived, my students were absolutely ecstatic! We had an \"unboxing party\" where they helped me organize everything by price and set up our store display. Their eyes lit up as they saw fidget toys, notebooks, pencils, stickers, and games. One student said, \"This is the best thing that's ever happened to our class!\" Another immediately started calculating how much cash she'd need to earn to buy the slime kit she had her eye on. The excitement was contagious, and from that moment on, I noticed an immediate shift in classroom behavior and motivation.\r\n\r\nWhat's next:\r\n\r\nWe're currently working on a unit about budgeting and financial planning in math, and the class store has become the perfect real-world connection! Students are creating spending plans, tracking their earnings, and learning about wants versus needs. Some students have even proposed opening a \"classroom bank\" where they can save their cash and earn interest—they're already thinking like young entrepreneurs!\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just give my students toys; it gave them motivation, responsibility, and real-life math skills they'll carry with them far beyond 5th grade. They are so happy when I told them we no longer had to struggle with those. They come up with an image and we brainstorm about how it will translate into a 3D object. How can we create this shape or what will form that one? I can see the wheels turning. \r\nThis is such a good experience for them. They have to think in a different way. They have to work at problem solving. THey find ways it works and ways it doesn't.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your help in making this happen. This learning is so valuable! Every single donation made a difference.
