In math, they access frequently access practice problems, exit tickets, and other activities to help them grow as mathematicians. In addition, they use resources I post on Google Classroom to review new concepts, study for tests, and practice their fact fluency. In science and social studies, they can access videos and articles to support their understanding of new learning about complex topics such as climate change or world geography. They also use their Chromebooks to type and publish essays or add to their background knowledge in language arts. My English language learners rely on Google Translate to help them access the 6th grade curriculum in their native languages. \r\n\r\nAs you can see, we use Chromebooks in ways that support and enhance learning. It will be a part of the classroom decor for many years to come, saving money and time in the future.\r\n\r\nThis is the first year that my kids are relying solely on notes they take in their notebooks, rather than a workbook or handouts. The document camera helps me model my own notebook with the kids so I can teach them strategies for their own notebooks and help them record important information. With the colored pencils, they are creating models and diagrams that are clear and colorful. Note-taking is a crucial skill that prepares them for middle school, high school and beyond.
