These books will used to enhance learning for in class and distance learning students (books will be available for pick up). Utilizing digital resources can be wonderful, but I think access to physical texts remains extremely important. My classroom library contains a diverse array of literature that my students love to independently read and discuss with each other. My books are carefully selected and treated with care so young minds can enjoy them year after year. Choice plays a large role in my reading instruction as it is my goal to develop students into independent thinkers and life long learners. With these new books, my students will be able to explore the issues and challenges they see in the world. From environmental concerns to the fight for social justice, students will decide what they care about most and then become experts on that topic. My students have already shown a natural desire to to discuss many of the complex problems we all face and these books will hopefully guide them to becoming young activists!
