Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging bilingual books and beautiful new bookshelves to house them. The shelves have helped us create an inviting reading space where students can easily browse and choose books that interest them, aiding in independence and sparking excitement around reading. We have been using these materials during guided independent exploration time and partner activities. Many of my students do not like to read, but have shown a unique interest in being able to choose what they want to read in Spanish. Seeing that curiosity bloom was a powerful reminder of how meaningful access to the right resources can be.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students' reactions were priceless. Their eyes lit up as they explored the new shelves and flipped through the books, pointing out familiar words, and comparing languages. With the addition of several new \"¿Quién ganará?\" editions, students raced to be the first to get their hands on them before anyone else could. These are definitely a class favorite and the impact it has had on them is immense.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a direct and lasting impact on my students' confidence, motivation, and love of learning. Our high school is very large and full of diverse learners. By financing alternative lighting, my students are able to have a space with less intense overhead lighting. This sensory aspect makes a big positive difference in the atmosphere of the classroom and also helps my students who are neurodivergent, especially those on the Autism Spectrum. \r\n\r\nAnother positive change is the variety of fidgets and manipulatives that allow students to have a kinetic way to move their bodies even when they must stay seated. This especially helps when students are listening to media or a lesson. \r\n\r\nThe other mental health resources have also added to students' wellness in my classroom. The one that stands out most surprised me: the sequin poster that allows students to use their finger to turn the multi-colored sequins to silver and back again. They often stand together and chat while creating designs or they will leave some art for the next class. It quite wonderful to watch!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support to enhance our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1739455240739,"projectUrl":"project/excelling-in-english-through-mental-heal/8927180/","projectTitle":"Excelling in English Through Mental Health Awareness & Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jeffers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9829588_orig.jpg?crop=1467,1467,x0,y171&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757617276887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9829588"},{"teacherId":5365371,"projectId":9239361,"letterContent":"The books for this project were curated by our team to use as an introduction to allegorical analysis. The anchor text of this unit is Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, and on of our main focuses is to move beyond basic comprehension and study the novel as an allegory. At the end of the unit, students eventually articulate the allegorical parallels between the novel and a historical, political, psychological, or religious synopsis of sorts. \r\n\r\nHowever, before they can jump into something as complex as understanding a novel on an allegorical level, we use children's book (such as these!) to collaboratively model allegorical parallels in a low-stakes manner. Students enjoy reading together in true \"story time\", and this serves as a strong foundation to build more sophistication once we begin the novel. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your generosity in supporting this request that will we will use with students for many years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1744211485887,"projectUrl":"project/small-books-with-big-meaning-picture-bo/9239361/","projectTitle":"Small Books with Big Meaning: Picture Books for Allegorical Analysis","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dolan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5365371_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1525268453576","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/k-dolan"},{"teacherId":5365371,"projectId":8989371,"letterContent":"I would like to extend my gratitude for your support of this project based learning experience for students! Many of my students face challenges outside of school that can make it difficult for them to focus on learning. By having access to essential personal care products, they feel more confident and prepared to engage in their education. The impact of these items goes beyond just physical well-being—they also contribute to their self-esteem and overall comfort, creating a more positive learning environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nThe generosity of donors has allowed me to create a small but meaningful support system within my classroom. When students know they can discreetly access hygiene items when needed, it removes a major barrier to their participation and social interactions. Instead of worrying about personal concerns, they can focus on their studies and personal growth. This simple act of kindness has helped foster a sense of dignity and care, letting students know that their needs matter and that they are supported.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful to DonorsChoose.org and the generous individuals who made this possible. Your support has not only provided necessary items but has also reinforced a culture of compassion and understanding in my classroom.
