The class was so excited when the box arrived. As I took out the materials several asked when they could use it. I promised them as soon as a got things put together, I would let them try everything out. \r\nThe models and apron brought what is inside, out so my students could examine how we are all put together. We had discussions of how we really are all the same on the inside. Students had a high level of engagement and in turn understanding as we used the tools throughout the unit of study.\r\n What thrilled me most as a teacher is how some students began to make connections to future careers based on what we were learning. The kids couldn't wait for me to open the box and take out the weather station. They immediately began calling out the names of the weather instruments they could see. It made my teacher heart so happy to hear them apply what we have been learning. We couldn't wait to get it set up. \r\n Now that it is set up outside of our classroom, students rush in each morning to read the weather data. As the seasons are beginning to change, the students are able to see real-world weather data and make predictions. This type of experience has been a crucial part of our weather unit. Students are able to make connections with the data and what they are able to observe outside.
