I am convinced that the instructional opportunities to introduce letter sounds and letter identification in early childhood have a direct impact on their success in literacy during the early elementary years. However, early childhood academic learning requires careful planning to effectively introduce foundational reading skills while honoring their need for hands-on materials and active learning. Thank you so much for gifting me the materials to make these teaching methods a reality. \r\n\r\nLearning through play is our motto in early childhood, and I think it is essential that our classrooms have a doll house with people to role play, problem-solve, and pretend. Kids love this type of imaginary play with peers or adults, and sadly, this play routine seems less and less available to kids today. The gift of people to use with our doll house will be enjoyed for years to come. Beyond play and academics, social-emotional learning is key, and the addition of a weighted book to help calm in a busy classroom will help our students to regulate and rejoin the group with ease.
