Beyond the sensory experience, the play dough quickly became a tool for practicing letters and words. Students shaped letters with their hands, spelling out their names and sight words. It has allowed me to use untethered teaching strategies. I can face my class as I write things on the board. In one of our units, we were comparing tickets sales on various movies over time, so we needed to adjust for inflation.
