Multicultural Dance is important for all students to help them understand about a specific culture. Through these learning experiences it allows students to gain respect and knowledge about others and give importance to the traditions and norms of a culture. While learning these dances, students discover the history and stories behind the multicultural dance. These folkloric skirts will give my students the opportunity to experience dancing with authentic Mexican skirts. By using the skirts, the students will understand how the Mexican skirts have an impact on the movement vocabulary within these multicultural dances from Mexico. My students will have the learning opportunity to use these Mexican skirts in class. They will understand how they have to move their bodies to let the skirt dance in class and onstage. These skirts will also be used by my students to culminate their learning experiences with a performance for their family and school community.
