This coming August I'm going to be a first year teacher, and I've unfortunately found myself with little to no general classroom supplies to start with. I'll be teaching a group of 2nd grade students and I envision a classroom in which they feel safe and inquiring, but most of all one in which they are provided the materials they need to succeed. Because I will be taking over the classroom of a teacher that has recently left my school, I will have to start almost at ground zero when it comes to writing materials, Math and Language Arts supplies, organizational tools (for the students and myself), decorative pieces and so many more important necessities that can make my room a wonderful educational space to be in.
If I somehow gain these necessities, I will be able to set up my classroom and get these students started on their learning journeys.
My future students will be expected to learn through music and art, putting on their scientist lenses, being mathematicians, and through inquisitive reading. I highly encourage curiosity and the desire to learn through movement and hands on experiences as well. But it can't be done unless my students are provided the space and things to work with. With your help, you can make this possible!
