Because of your generosity, our classroom now has a colorful rug, storage shelves for our construction paper, and supply bins to keep our materials organized. These might sound like simple things, but they have completely changed the way our art room works. The rug gives us a welcoming place to gather for demonstrations and discussions, the shelves keep every color of construction paper neat and easy to reach, and the bins let students grab exactly what they need and put it back when they are done.\r\n\r\nWhen my students walked in and saw the new space, their faces lit up. Several of them sat right down on the rug and asked if we could have our lessons there every day. They were especially proud to help set up the supply bins and sort the construction paper by color, and they have taken real ownership of keeping everything tidy. With less time spent searching for materials and cleaning up clutter, we have more time for what matters most: creating. Just this week, students gathered on the rug to look at examples before heading to their tables, pulled paper from the shelves, and got to work on their collages right away.\r\n\r\nNext, we will build on that momentum with new projects that use our construction paper collection, from layered paper collages to cut-paper landscapes and mixed-media pieces. The organized space helps my students work more independently and confidently, and it gives them a room they are truly proud of. I received the order of materials at the end of the year last year and was able to photograph items. This project made the kids excited for the new kids coming to second grade!\r\n\r\nThe different types of pencil erasers will be used in our class store, used during class for students as prizes, and just used during our work. \r\n\r\nThe fun puff ball erasers will make white board erasing fun and will hopefully last longer than a few months like the foam squares. Although we have passed this unit this year, I, and future students are ready to have fun and succeed! This years students have seen some of the items going up like one of the maps and they were so excited! Seeing them gathered around the map at the wall having conversations was awesome. \r\n\r\nThe puzzles will be fun for students before we even do our lessons and this years students can do them too with the year winding down. The 2 books about states look like so much fun! Your donation has helped tremendously. \r\n\r\nThe Odds and Ends project allowed me to receive some grading materials. Flair pens, students like the different colors. Especially when they get a good grade. We were not able to get the stickers because they were out of stock so I ordered some fun neon crayons with the sticker money so students can have more variety when picking colors. \r\n\r\nThe rubber bands, the black and pink things in the pictures are bands that go on the legs of chairs so students can bounce their legs or feet when anxious instead of sitting/standing and falling out of the chair. This allows for a more safe area.\r\n\r\nThe wide ruled notebook paper will be used on and off throughout the year for writing and math. While the small strips with pictures are fidgets that will be placed on each students desk in August before they arrive.
