We used the magnetic materials during small group instruction and learning centers, giving my scholars opportunities to explore, build, create, sort, and problem solve while strengthening important early learning skills. The materials also encouraged fine motor development creativity, communication, and working together with classmates.\r\nWhen my scholars first saw the materials, their faces lit up! They were eager to touch, explore, and discover what they could create. I loved hearing their conversations as they shared ideas, asked questions, and proudly showed one another what they had made. What may have looked like play to them was actually meaningful learning taking place.\r\nOur next step is to build upon that excitement by incorporating the magnetic resources into literacy and math lessons. My scholars can use them to practice letters and sounds, create patterns and shapes, count, sort, compare, and complete simple STEM challenges. I also plan to give them opportunities to design and build their own creations and explain their thinking to their classmates.\r\nThese resources will continue to grow with my scholars throughout the school year.
