Many students have experienced trauma. For these students to be successful in the classroom we first have to address their social and emotional needs. In the Wizards Den students will be taught healthy coping strategies so that they are able to function in the classroom and be successfully academically. The Wizards Den will be a space where students can come take a break and utilize a healthy coping strategy such as mindfulness, coloring, reading, or simply utilize a quiet space. A core group of high school students will be trained on these strategies and staff the space with the supervision of an adult staff. This will be an outlet for our older and younger students to build positive relationships.
