It is about recognizing a need and taking the initiative to meet it, even when no one is watching. Cleaning up litter may seem like a small act, but to these students, it represented something much larger: the power of responsibility, the importance of teamwork, and the beauty of giving back. Each piece of trash collected symbolized their growing awareness that they are stewards of their environment and contributors to their community's well-being.\r\n\r\nThis effort also deepened their understanding of allyship. As they worked side by side, they modeled what it means to stand together for a shared cause. They were allies in action, proving that leadership rooted in empathy and collaboration can spark meaningful change.\r\n\r\nWe are proud of the impact our students made and the example they set for others. \"Leaders Who Litter—Ally Clean Up!\" was more than a clean-up day; it was a moment of character building, collective purpose, and community empowerment. Through their efforts, these young leaders reminded us that when we all take part in caring for the spaces we share, we leave behind not just cleaner parks, but stronger communities.","fullyFundedDate":1746787007876,"projectUrl":"project/leaders-who-litterally-clean-up/9253362/","projectTitle":"Leaders Who Litter—ally Clean Up!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bridges","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5431879_orig.jpg?crop=838,838,x316,y1036&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1603063687347","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5431879"},{"teacherId":5431879,"projectId":9253360,"letterContent":"Already, this project has produced profound outcomes. Students who once struggled to express themselves have found new ways to communicate through digital media. Those who viewed wellness as a private matter now see it as a community pursuit. The technology has become a tool for empathy, allowing young people to walk in someone else's shoes and to use what they learn to inspire change.\r\n\r\nWellness Through Their Eyes reminds us that when we blend innovation with intention, we can create spaces where healing and hope meet. With your continued support, we can expand this project to reach more schools, equip more students with the tools to tell their stories, and strengthen our collective understanding of what it means to be well.\r\n\r\nThank you for your belief in this mission and your investment in both the minds and hearts of young people. Clubs & Character was built on that belief that when we pair skill development with mentorship and guidance with opportunity, we do more than create better golfers. We help shape stronger, more grounded, and more resilient human beings.\r\n\r\nThrough the game of golf, our students are learning far more than how to drive, chip, or putt. They are learning discipline that comes from showing up early, practicing patience, and understanding that growth takes time. They are learning integrity that reminds them in golf, as in life, you call your own fouls and own your own progress. Most importantly, they are learning character, discovering how to treat others with respect, lead with humility, and stand tall even when no one is watching.\r\n\r\nEach mentorship pairing bridges generations, cultures, and communities. Our mentors are not just teaching swings; they are modeling how to navigate setbacks, communicate with confidence, and carry themselves with dignity both on and off the course. These relationships are transforming how students view success, showing them it is not a destination but a continuous process of learning, giving, and growing.","fullyFundedDate":1742921475598,"projectUrl":"project/clubs-character-empowering-students-t/9206725/","projectTitle":"Clubs & Character: Empowering Students Through Golf & Mentorship","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bridges","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5431879_orig.jpg?crop=838,838,x316,y1036&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1603063687347","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5431879"},{"teacherId":4663526,"projectId":8443968,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our scholars have been able to explore and benefit from their new sensory tools in meaningful ways. One of our 7th graders shared, *\"The swing makes me feel good and happy. It is comfortable.\"* For a 6th grader who often feels overstimulated, the vibrating pillow has become an essential tool to help him calm his body and stay engaged in class. These resources have quickly become a natural part of our daily routines and emotional-regulation strategies.\r\n\r\nMany of the items are already supporting classroom activities. The rain stick and sensory timer help guide mindfulness breaks, the slug fidget offers quiet grounding during reading, and the sloth book has become a student favorite. We are especially excited to begin using the liquid timer pens to encourage scholars who struggle with writing to participate more confidently. Having such a wide variety of sensory options soft, hard, click-based, swaying, and vibrating allows each student to find what works best for them.\r\n\r\nAn unexpected and heartwarming benefit is that scholars from other classrooms have also been able to use these tools when they need a moment to reset. Your donation hasn't just supported our class, it has created a shared space of calm and comfort across our department. Thank you for making such a meaningful and lasting difference for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1729891139467,"projectUrl":"project/swinging-into-self-regulation/8443968/","projectTitle":"Swinging Into Self-Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Buxton-Adeyeye","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4663526_orig.jpg?crop=1944,1944,x0,y136&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659716687361","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/buxton-adeyeye"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101565","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":663,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":88,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":46.6,"schoolId":101565,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Atlanta Heights Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Atlanta Heights Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/georgia-department-of-education/atlanta-heights-charter-school/101565"}
