I started this last year and surprised students with a copy of Catching Fire after we read The Hunger Games as a call. The impact it had on students reached beyond what I ever imagined it would! \r\n\r\nWe always end the school year with reading The Hunger Games. It is a fun way to end, however, I always feel bummed at the same time because I see so many students connect to a book for the first time. So, last year I thought of the idea of encouraging reading throughout the summer with the next copy in the series. When we returned for the new school year in August, I was blown away with students coming to tell me about Catching Fire! Some even brought the whole series they ended up purchasing to show me! \r\n\r\nIt became the topic of conversation for them. It became a new recess activity. It was the start of their love of reading and it was, and continues to be, such a privilege to be a part of that. However, I could not do it without YOU and your support. As soon as the new materials arrived, students immediately started exploring, building, tinkering, and asking the kinds of deep questions that only happen when their curiosity is truly sparked. It has transformed our room from a place where we talk about creativity into a place where we can finally live it. Students who are usually quiet suddenly became leaders. Others who often rush through work slowed down because they were genuinely invested in solving real problems.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came during our first engineering challenge using the new robotics and STEM tools. A group of 4th graders huddled over their materials, adjusting, redesigning, failing, and trying again without a single prompt from me. That resilience and ownership over their learning is exactly why I wanted this project funded. Thanks to you, these gifted learners now have resources that match their abilities and push them to think beyond what they believed they could do.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just bring supplies into our classroom, it brought confidence, joy, and a sense of possibility. My students know that people in the world believe in them enough to invest in their potential. That matters more than you know. Thank you for helping ignite STEM sparks in a group of students who are hungry to build, explore, and innovate.","fullyFundedDate":1758235948373,"projectUrl":"project/stem-sparks-for-gifted-minds/9667876/","projectTitle":"STEM Sparks for Gifted Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fregozo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9029165_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756652736977","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9029165"},{"teacherId":6517284,"projectId":9440378,"letterContent":"This project has provided a fresh, new classroom for my students.
