My students are in the middle of reading them. \r\n They have learned several things from our group adventure of reading this chapter book together. First, they have learned that reading with expression makes a book so much more fun to read. They are used to reading like robots. They have been learning about punctuating dialogue and are now figuring out how to read it. \r\n Second, they are seeing figurative language is in chapter books. When we learn it, I teach it using picture books where that key type is highlighted. But seeing it in the longer book helps them understand what it is actually meaning and how it is being used. \r\n Lastly, they are just having fun. We are reading it together, with small groups, and alone. They do not want to put the book down at all. They groan every time I say that is all we are reading today. \r\n Thank you again for helping me make reading fun as 4th graders transfer from picture books to chapter books.","fullyFundedDate":1767916908690,"projectUrl":"project/reading-together/9921202/","projectTitle":"Reading Together","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Graham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9187964_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692067397844","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9187964"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_86278","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":224,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":32,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":62.3,"schoolId":86278,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Apache Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Apache Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/boone-apache-independent-school-district-56/apache-elementary-school/86278"}
