I wasn't sure if all of the students would understand how to connect the circuits and go through the steps of lining up the red lines on the side and pushing them together, then using the different switches, but all of them are so amazed at making them work. One student was helping another student and he said, \"are your red lines together\". The other student replied, \"yes\" and started to whine a bit. The student helping said, \"don't worry, we will check it out\". He quickly said, \"I found the problem. You have to push it together more\". They are working together so well with these new materials. \r\nThe Roybi robot and the blue and white robot were the two boxes that were \"OPEN IMMEDIATLY\" when the students seen them! While I was downloading an app for Roybi, we started to use the blue and white robot. The students love talking to him, dancing with him, and setting the learning mode for learning facts. \r\nThey asked if we were getting a robot vacuum! I laughed and said maybe next year! Some of my students with noise sensitivity were relieved to have headphones so they could concentrate and focus. It has helped so much with those students who become easily overstimulated and distracted by noise. The chair bands have been so great at helping my students stay in their seats. They now can bounce their legs on the bands instead of jumping up and down. I as their teacher have been extremely relieved to implement the use of these materials. The visual timer has been very helpful during calm corner breaks, center based activities, and transitions. My students and I are extremely grateful for your generosity and support. I wish the excitement could've been bottled and sold when opening the boxes. The kids couldn't believe they were going to be able to make their own personal puzzles.\r\n\r\nWe created personalized puzzles as one of their end of the year gifts. We decided on making the puzzle with a picture from the first day of school and a picture from the last week of school. The project was bitter sweet. We actually saw physical and emotional growth from the two pictures. It warmed our hearts to see how far they had come. The puzzles are great keepsakes for our families. Moving forward I think it will be a part of our end of the year gifts. To improve upon our project I think we will make them into a puzzle magnet. The resources have been used to make a connection between previously taught learning targets and individual goals. Hands on materials (manipulatives) allow them to show what they've learned. Scholars can use the resources during instructional and free time. \r\n\r\nStudents are allowed to work together at the small group tables which gives them an opportunity to build on learned academic skills and increase positive peer interactions and social skills. On one occasion two students were able to sit together and work with Associate Teacher on counting objects, colors, sorting and putting puzzles together. It was awesome to see them sit together for a long period of time. Bean bags are used in our break area for students that need a sensory break or time to play together. \r\n\r\nThe puzzles helped with letter recognition and for some of our scholars who love letters they enjoyed lining them up and placing them on the puzzle. This helped to improve letter recognition. Students will continue to use the material to assist with learning and those identified skills; for example, rhyming words, counting objects bears or puzzle pieces, positive peer interaction. Instead of using worksheets students will have hands on materials that they can touch, feel and learn from. \r\n\r\nWe thank you from the bottom of our HEARTS for your donation/contribution to our classroom. As a school psychologist, I had the privilege of bringing new resources into my space through DonorsChoose—prizes, fidgets, post-its, file folders, preschool evaluation tool and a lamp—all additions that transformed the environment into one of warmth, focus, and motivation.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe impact was immediate. A student struggling to sit still found comfort in a fidget, their hands busy, their mind steady. Another, hesitant to participate, lit up at the prospect of earning a small prize—proof that their effort mattered. The lamp cast a soft, inviting glow, turning our sessions into a space that felt safe and welcoming. The posters reinforced positive messages, silent but constant reminders of resilience and self-belief. Even the file folders, neatly organizing materials, provided a sense of structure and calm.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe smiles on their faces weren't just about the rewards; they were about the feeling of being seen, encouraged, and supported. These moments were reminders that education is not just about skills, but about belief—the belief that with the right environment, every child can feel empowered to grow. Through the generosity of DonorsChoose, what began as supplies became the foundation for confidence, focus, and a renewed sense of possibility.","fullyFundedDate":1711566608831,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-students-can-soar/8157643/","projectTitle":"Special Education Students Can Soar","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nadoff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7503334"},{"teacherId":3697386,"projectId":8275014,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for helping our school get funded.
