In first grade, spills and accidents happen frequently, and students' families aren't always able to leave work to drop off a fresh pair of clothes. I've seen kids extremely self conscious of massive holes in their pants, worried about others seeing their underwear or making fun of them.\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students were able to have fresh, clean clothes whenever they need them. They get a huge confidence boost and smile on their face with the joy of a fresh pair of new clothes. But now due to this generous donation, my first graders are able to fully engage with science far beyond the curriculum's lessons. With these supplies, we're able to implement fun, engaging STEM activities across all subjects. \r\nThanks to you, our ELA lessons have also blossomed to include so much more than just lectures and workbooks as we incorporate STEM activities aligned with content. As we read books about the sun, moon, and stars, students benefit from and enjoy seeing an actual physical representation of the sun, Earth, and planets with the orbiting solar system display. Along with growing plants themselves to understand the importance of the sun to living things. As we learn about birds and their physical structures, students have the best time using binoculars to see them closer. After reading, the aluminum foil was used for students to create their own magnificent parade balloons. \r\nEven more important, we shared plenty of healthy snacks and students were able to take home boxes of oatmeal, fruit cups, yogurts, and more low maintenance foods for the break from school. \r\nThank you for your immense generosity in keeping kids healthy, happy, and fed!","fullyFundedDate":1763045713802,"projectUrl":"project/fighting-food-insecurity-with-friendsgiv/9884227/","projectTitle":"Fighting Food Insecurity with Friendsgiving","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9320228_orig.jpg?crop=1005,1005,x118,y263&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715052070640","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bstright"},{"teacherId":9320228,"projectId":9743406,"letterContent":"My students full blown CHEERED when I opened these boxes! One student even brought a new Dog Man book on a field trip with him. Dog Man has become one of his greatest coping skills as whenever he feels upset or escalated, he often takes a break and chooses to read it. Now that I have a full set of Dog Man books, he can continue reading new stories while revisiting old ones. \r\nAnother one of my students previously shared that many of her family members are from Jamaica, often sharing stories about Jamaica and her family there. When I showed her the new picture books celebrating Jamaica and its culture, she excitedly yelled \"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU MS STRIGHT!!!\" I said don't thank me, thank the incredible donors from DonorsChoose for generously funding these for us! \r\nSo I thank you immensely for bringing so much joy and excitement around reading to our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1762453407403,"projectUrl":"project/joy-culture-and-laughter-through-liter/9743406/","projectTitle":"Joy, Culture, and Laughter through Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9320228_orig.jpg?crop=1005,1005,x118,y263&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715052070640","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bstright"},{"teacherId":9320228,"projectId":9814339,"letterContent":"My students were THRILLED to receive these materials!
