I explained that these would become their special \"Math Practice Books,\" and they couldn't wait to get started. Something as simple as a small notebook immediately gave them a sense of ownership and pride.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the notebooks for our daily multiplication drills, and they've completely transformed our math routine. Each morning, students open their notebooks to practice their multiplication facts, record quick math goals, or reflect on their progress. The unlined pages give them freedom to organize their work however they like, some write neat rows of equations, while others draw arrays or skip-counting patterns. This flexibility allows every student to find their own rhythm and build confidence in a way that works for them.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was seeing a student who usually hesitates with math proudly share, \"I filled an entire page with 2s today!\" The whole class celebrated, and his smile said it all. These notebooks have become more than just a place to practice they've become symbols of growth, persistence, and achievement.\r\n\r\nStudents also use them in small groups to solve word problems or write short math reflections. The compact size makes them easy to carry to the carpet or centers, and students enjoy flipping back through pages to see how much they've improved. Even those who once struggled to stay engaged during math time are now motivated to fill their notebooks with new learning.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity! These pocket notebooks have brought structure, excitement, and confidence to our classroom. You've helped my students not only practice math but believe in themselves as mathematicians.","fullyFundedDate":1755726256853,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-for-young-writers-and-creative/9441034/","projectTitle":"Supplies for Young Writers and Creative Thinkers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9073478_orig.jpg?crop=1184,1184,x706,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740714966152","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9073478"},{"teacherId":9073478,"projectId":9440995,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, my students now have their own headphones, and the difference has been incredible! This allowed students to practice problem-solving while also making connections across both languages, strengthening both their academic and language skills.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were so excited to have something they could use in both English and Spanish. Many of them immediately noticed the benefit of having the instructions and problems written in both languages, and it gave them a sense of pride knowing they could approach the work in whichever language felt more comfortable while also challenging themselves to grow in the other. Recently, we began an end-of-year memory book project. Each student is writing about their favorite moments, challenges they've overcome, and what they're looking forward to in the next grade. The construction paper has added color and creativity to their covers and illustrations, helping them take real pride in their work.\r\n\r\nThe bookmarks have been especially helpful for my students who are building reading stamina they feel a little more grown-up and responsible with a special place to mark their spot in our independent reading books. It's a small thing, but knowing we have what we need to take care of ourselves has made a big impact on the daily comfort of our classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be finishing our memory books and sharing them with classmates in our \"Author's Chair\" celebration. I explained that these materials were donated by people who believe in their learning, and that made them feel special and valued. The very next day, students eagerly used their whiteboards during math warm-ups, proudly holding them up to show their work. These tools have already made a noticeable impact on student engagement and participation.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we're currently working on a \"Math Talk\" routine where students explain their thinking and strategies using multiplication facts. The whiteboards allow every student to solve problems in real time and show their work quickly, which makes our discussions much more interactive. During reading, students use highlighters to mark important details in nonfiction texts, helping them find evidence more easily and practice close reading skills. The pencils are being used daily for writing, especially during our narrative writing unit, where students are drafting stories with clear beginnings, middles, and ends.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our learning feels more hands-on and meaningful. The next step for my students is to use these tools to support a class project on biographies—we'll be researching influential figures, highlighting key facts, and drafting reports.
