Most of the furniture and storage bins in my classroom have been hand-me-downs from other teachers, or were purchased using a very small budget from our PTA, so I was not able to choose materials were a nice enough quality to last my 5th graders more than 1 academic year. The donations of our brand new set of stools, seat cushions, and my very first teacher chair of my own have been used and appreciated so much since we first received them! The stools are amazing to have during small group work time at my table, or are handy if a student wants to pull up a seat near a classmate. The floor cushions provide my students with the choice to sit on the floor during their independent work time, or when we are reading as a class in our reading circle. My new desk chair is so comfortable to sit in while I am reading aloud our class chapter book! My students have also very much enjoyed the new building toys to add to our small surplus of Legos! \r\n\r\nNot only did the new seats make an impact on my students and me, but so did the large storage bins. Staying in the classroom helps them focus on lesson and not lose their concentration.
