The impact has been immediate and meaningful. From the very first day the equipment arrived, our students' faces lit up with excitement and joy. Recess has become an even more active, engaging, and positive part of the school day. Students are eager to get outside, move their bodies, and explore new ways to play together. We have seen students spending more energy outdoors in healthy, productive ways, which has carried over into the classroom with improved focus, calmer transitions, and stronger engagement during learning time.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical benefits, the equipment has helped strengthen our school community and social-emotional learning skills. Students are practicing teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and kindness while they play together. One of the most heartwarming outcomes has been watching children interact across grade levels—older students encouraging younger ones, and younger students building confidence through inclusive play. The playground has become a space where friendships are growing, cooperation is happening naturally, and students are learning how to support one another in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nAs we continue building on this excitement, our next steps include bringing the learning back into the classroom through our project-based learning activities. Students will work together to learn and teach new games using the equipment, practicing leadership, collaboration, and creativity along the way. They will create game instructions, model expectations for safe and inclusive play, and reflect on how teamwork and communication help everyone succeed. This equipment is giving our students authentic opportunities to connect learning, movement, and community in ways that will continue long after recess ends.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided so much more than play equipment; it has created opportunities for connection, growth, and joy every single day. Thank you for helping us create a school environment where students can thrive both socially and academically. We are truly grateful for your support and for the lasting difference you are making in the lives of our children.","fullyFundedDate":1771785914077,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-fun/10111714/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shay","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8018555_orig.png?crop=271,271,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768514097170","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8018555"},{"teacherId":9256517,"projectId":10010896,"letterContent":"It is with great gratitude that we write to share with you just how much your contributions brought to our learning this year! The land of Hawaii, specifically of Kaua'i is often known to be one of great beauty and magic, holding rich history and incredible abundance but it seems that for those born and raised on Kaua'i, perspective about this unique place can be somewhat lacking. While many travel, for some, this land and its ancient history are the bedrock of a future that carries with it much promise and hope for the future. \r\n\r\nTo learn about this bedrock, from the literal formation of Pele's longing to find a home and her lava flows; the context of voyagers coming thousands of miles across unknown waters becoming the ancestors of this land; the animals and plants that already existed on the islands, and those that were brought to make a new life: components that coalesce to make possible the ingenious ahupuaa system. What we do not know is what students will do with this knowledge: what we hope is that they will apply aspects of their insights about it to our modern needs for preservation and kuleana. \r\n\r\nThe experience of constructing this mural, from learning the components of the system itself, to brainstorming how we might take a small image and expand it to mural space, to having actual paint to work with has been an absolute pleasure, taking the learning to a level that would not have been possible in any other way. The keiki are proud of their work, applying Hawaiian values to their work as a team, and becoming more confident in their ability to take a dream and make it a reality. Mahalo nui, for giving them this unique and memorable experience! They've pondered on what it might feel like to visit the mural in years to come and we hope that this process will have helped them to directly possess the skill of doing work now that has direct impact on the future: of the aina and of our human ohana.","fullyFundedDate":1771525250249,"projectUrl":"project/ancient-hawaiian-ahupuaah-mural/10010896/","projectTitle":"Ancient Hawaiian Ahupuaah Mural","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9256517"},{"teacherId":2446411,"projectId":9905326,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing funding for the materials for my students. They are already benefiting from the materials you have provided. The wooden ball run is so exciting to them and they are learning about forces and motion by building ball runs. They are using the blocks to create chain reactions with the ball run so they are applying what they have learned in science and continue to experiment with the concepts of push and pull. \r\nMy students also appreciate the tempera paints for easel painting and are learning about how colors are mixed to create new colors. They are also developing their fine motor skills while expressing their thoughts and emotions.\r\nFinally, the students love their new journals. The journals are being used as part of a project based learning process in outdoor education. Each week we go to the forest and orchard and the students come back and draw and write about their experiences. They will use what they have written to provide evidence for their opinion about the value of outdoor learning when we have our presentation of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1764864106358,"projectUrl":"project/problem-solver-toys/9905326/","projectTitle":"Problem Solver Toys","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wagner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2446411"},{"teacherId":9527193,"projectId":9653842,"letterContent":"I am so grateful to you for helping our units on microscopes so much more impactful. I felt so happy I could provide this opportunity for them. They just love using real scientific equipment!\r\n I plan to revisit microscope use again in our next unit on cells.
