Students were so excited to use the pencils and eager to learn about the different leads and how they could use them in their drawing. We started with a shading practice sheet, and now anytime we do any drawing, students ask to use the special pencils. We always make sure to take very good care of our pencils, and I anticipate students being able to enjoy these for years to come! \r\nI have really been enjoying using the new expo markers to write messages for my class, it's so nice to have new markers in bright colors to write my introduction messages. \r\nAnd now that we are all back in school, we are using the cleaning wipes to keep everything nice and healthy as well. \r\nIt means so much to me and my students to have the things that I need to start the year off well. Teachers were so excited to get materials for their classroom spaces. Oftentimes these are the types of things that teachers pay out of pocket to fund. I was able to get teachers started with materials and hold some back so that I could come around later in the year with additional items to add to the spaces to keep it novel and interesting for the students using the space. \r\n\r\nTeachers spend time teaching the students how to use the materials before adding them to the space so that the items are being used as a tool instead of a toy to help with self-regulation. It is helpful having a variety of materials since different strategies are soothing for each of us. \r\n\r\nWe will continue to add materials to the spaces throughout the year and get feedback as to what our students respond to most. Sometimes too it's the adults that need and use the materials and the space!
