Reading in our classroom is an active, student-centered experience where students choose their own books, build stamina, and engage in meaningful discussions. With these new books, I've seen an increase in excitement, confidence, and deeper conversations about what they are reading.\r\n\r\nThese texts have allowed me to strengthen key literacy skills such as making inferences, identifying themes, analyzing characters, and asking thoughtful questions. Having a wider variety of books at different levels and genres has made it possible to better meet each student's needs and support their growth as readers.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, I've watched students truly light up. Some of my more reluctant readers are now eager to pick up books and share their thinking, while others have found stories they deeply connect with. Your support has helped create a classroom where all students feel like readers—thank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768499570637,"projectUrl":"project/reading-takes-us-on-adventures/10015775/","projectTitle":"Reading Takes Us on Adventures","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chester","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9625304"},{"teacherId":9380782,"projectId":10012731,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your support.\r\n\r\nMy students have been using the resources in many different ways and they have enjoyed them greatly! For non-verbal students, it is an easy way to learn if a student is feeling sick or angry as they are unable to tell you.\r\n\r\nBilaterally manipulating the Slinky toys in different ways. The toys spark their creativity as they think of different ways to test their Slinky in order to see what it does. Some techniques work as they want it to and others don't.\r\n\r\nManipulating the chubby crayons to color across Princess Texture Plates and create their own princess drawings.\r\n\r\nBuilding CVC words and sentences with the puzzle cards and then copying the words and sentences on paper to improve letter formation skills.\r\n\r\nMotor planning to be able to jump on the Pogo Stick without falling off.\r\n\r\nMaking the Bouncyband Calming Stretchy toy available for a student during high anxiety situations as a form of emotional regulation.\r\n\r\nThese resources help students improve balance, eye-hand coordination, motor planning, hand and body strength, and fine motor skills in fun and exciting ways. While these titles are famously \"unputdownable,\" they are also powerful tools for building stamina and visual literacy. By blending high-action chapter books with acclaimed graphic novels, we are meeting students exactly where they are. They are learning to navigate complex plot arcs and emotional subtext through both prose and art, proving that \"real reading\" happens whenever a student is deeply engaged with a page.\r\nIn our classroom, reading now looks like pure choice and joy. During independent reading time, the room is filled with a focused, comfortable silence that is occasionally broken by a student whispering, \"You have to read this next!\" to a friend. The mix of formats allows students to transition seamlessly between the epic mythology of Rick Riordan and the relatable, real-life hurdles in Raina Telgemeier's work. It has shifted the culture from reading because they have to, to reading because they want to.\r\nThis project has been a game-changer for my \"dormant\" readers. I have watched students who used to browse the shelves aimlessly now rush to their desks to find out what happens next in Guts. One student, who previously felt overwhelmed by dense blocks of text, has found immense confidence in the graphic novel format; that confidence is now spilling over into his willingness to tackle longer chapter books. Your support has helped these students discover that reading isn't a struggle to be endured, but an adventure to be sought out.","fullyFundedDate":1768154734639,"projectUrl":"project/give-my-students-books-to-love/9998446/","projectTitle":"Give my students books to love","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9976568_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748456316397","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9976568"},{"teacherId":9976568,"projectId":9549260,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire fourth-grade class, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your incredibly generous donation toward our color printing fund. Your support has provided us with a resource that we often take for granted, but one that truly changes the landscape of our daily learning. It is heartening to know that our community is so invested in providing our students with the very best tools for their education.\r\nSince we began using the color printer, our classroom has quite literally been transformed. What used to be a space filled with black-and-white worksheets is now a vibrant, colorful environment that reflects the energy of the students themselves. From vivid maps in social studies to colorful diagrams in science, the visual impact of your gift is seen on every wall and in every student's folder. The \"pop\" of color has made our room feel more welcoming and alive.\r\nBeyond just looking beautiful, these resources have made our lessons significantly more engaging. We have found that students are more excited to dive into their projects when they can incorporate high-quality imagery and color-coded data. This visual clarity helps our fourth graders better understand complex concepts and take greater pride in the work they produce.
