Because of your support, we were able to give our little graduates their own graduation caps and surprise them with a gift that connected perfectly to our classroom: a cuddly Pigeon plush by Mo Willems.\r\n\r\nMo Willems' books have been a big part of our year. The children have laughed along with Pigeon, Elephant, Piggie, and so many of his characters. His stories brought so much joy, humor, and connection into our classroom, so having Pigeon be part of our graduation celebration felt like the perfect way to end the year.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helped us give each child something familiar, meaningful, and fun. The graduation caps helped them feel proud and ready for their big moment, while the Pigeon plush gave them a sweet reminder of the stories, laughter, and memories we shared together in Pre-K.\r\n\r\nOne of the sweetest moments was seeing their faces when they received their Pigeon. For many children, graduation is exciting, but it can also feel like a big step into something new. This gift helped make the transition feel joyful, comforting, and full of smiles.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the power of stories, surprises, and childhood joy. The Toniebox has already become a favorite in our classroom, so this project felt less like introducing something new and more like giving the children even more access to something they already love.\r\n\r\nThis time, there was no learning curve. The children already knew how to use the Toniebox and were excited right away when they saw the new Tonies. They were eager to choose stories, listen to songs, and revisit some of the characters they recognized. Having an additional Toniebox also makes a big difference because more children can enjoy listening at the same time, instead of having to wait for a turn.\r\n\r\nThe new Tonies have also helped bring a wider variety of stories into our classroom. That variety matters, especially for our students who are still developing their English language skills. They get to hear new words, familiar phrases, songs, conversations, and storytelling in a way that feels fun and natural. I love seeing them listen closely, repeat parts they remember, and talk about their favorite stories with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts has been watching quieter students engage with language in a comfortable way. Some children may not always speak up during whole group time, but they will sit with a Toniebox, listen, smile, sing along, or share a small comment with a friend. Those little moments matter. They are building confidence, vocabulary, independence, and a love for stories.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped us give our students more chances to listen, learn, and enjoy books in a way that feels playful and inviting. Even though the makerspace supplies were out of stock, we decided to dive right in by building a mobile Art Cart—and it has been a total game-changer for my Pre-K creators.\r\n\r\nThe absolute star of the project has been the \"chompsaw.\" If you've ever worked with four-year-olds, you know how much they want to build big things, but cardboard is usually way too tough for them to handle on their own. It used to be a point of frustration, but now? They are obsessed. Watching them realize they can actually cut through a thick box safely to make the exact piece they need is amazing. They've even started testing it on other materials like felt, experimenting like little scientists to see what else it can do.\r\n\r\nHaving everything organized on a rolling cart means that whenever a student has a \"Fix-It Felix\" moment, they just wheel the supplies to their spot and get to work. They aren't waiting on me to cut things for them anymore—they're doing it themselves.\r\n\r\nYou've given them more than just tools; you've given them the independence to be real builders. Because of your generosity, our Pre-K students haven't just been learning about kindness in the abstract—they have been practicing it with their own two hands.\r\n\r\nThe journey began with the excitement of building our new clothing rack. Once it was ready, we sent out letters to our school community, and then the \"waiting game\" began. As donations slowly started to trickle in, our classroom was in the middle of a clothing unit study. This provided the perfect opportunity for our students to learn the art of stewardship.\r\n\r\nUsing the donated items, my students practiced how to truly care for clothes. They learned to fold neatly and even experienced \"old school\" chores by washing clothes by hand using a washboard and our manual washing machine. It was incredible to watch these young learners realize that their small hands were capable of preparing something beautiful for someone else.\r\n\r\nOnce the clothes were cleaned, folded, and hung, we wheeled the rack out to our families. While it started slowly as families got used to the new project, the children's curiosity eventually led the way. Before we knew it, items were \"flying off the racks\" into their new homes!\r\n\r\nIn a world where children outgrow clothing so quickly, it felt wasteful to see perfectly good items discarded. Because of you, those clothes have been given a second life, and our families have a dignified way to support one another. More importantly, my students now see themselves as \"capable helpers\" who understand that helping others is something they can do every single day.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our vision and for helping our littlest learners discover the power of a compassionate community.","fullyFundedDate":1767150540004,"projectUrl":"project/the-compassion-closet-a-pre-k-clothing/9956478/","projectTitle":"The Compassion Closet: A Pre-K Clothing Exchange Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Andy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1529780_orig.jpg?crop=1178,1178,x45,y459&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742212249326","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ayung"},{"teacherId":1529780,"projectId":9920681,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity! Thanks to this project, it doesn't have to.\r\n\r\nWith the hats, gloves, and scarves you helped provide, our 18 little adventurers are fully bundled and ready to take on winter. Now they can step outside without hesitation—feeling snow crunch under their boots, watching their breath form clouds in the air, and noticing how ice melts when the sun comes out. They are science, sensory learning, and joy all wrapped into one.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your support sends a clear message to our students: learning doesn't stop when the weather changes. From the very first read, the children were glued to the pages. They laughed at the dry humor, waited in suspense for the quiet twists, and quickly formed opinions about each character. Even my most active learners sat still, eyes locked on the book, fully invested in what these simple shapes were going to do next.\r\n\r\nWhat's powerful about these stories is how deceptively simple they are. The children don't just enjoy the silliness—they talk about motives, fairness, and feelings. \"Triangle is tricky.\" \"Square didn't know.\" \"Circle was honest.\" These books opened the door for rich conversations, prediction, and critical thinking, all through characters they instantly fell in love with.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are discovering a new generation of authors who write stories that stay with them.
