Rather than cancel practice and waste day, now we have these mats and we don't have to cancel practice. We simply find some shade and do our core workout. They are working miracles. They have been helping with soreness, recovery, and injury prevention. After a hard workout, the athletes really enjoy using the massage feature. It helps them revoker and be ready for the next day. If athletes are experiencing tightness, a few minutes with a roller helps tremendously. I have noticed that my athletes are missing less practice because of pain or injury. They have used it to take their splits and see their improvement over time. When students walked into my classroom, I could see how excited they were. Every day, we use the school supplies and organizational tools you have generously donated. This organization has helped us focus on community building, critical thinking, and communication.\r\n\r\nI use the acrylic stands as station labels so students know where to go during station rotations. I use the caddies to hold everyday school supplies that students need. When I showed my students the 100 notebooks donated by the community, their eyes lit up. I could see that they were relieved that they would not need to purchase their own notebooks. We set up our notebooks by first making a table of contents to which my students used the rulers that were donated. Because of your generosity, each of my students got to use a ruler to make their pages neat and organized. Also, students have been using their highlighters every day to highlight vocabulary words on their worksheets. \r\n\r\nNext, students will staple their finished worksheets into their notebook. Their notebook will serve as a portfolio of what students have learned throughout the school year. Also, students will get to show their parents their notebooks during parent-teacher conferences. \r\n\r\nWithout your support, my students would not have a mini portfolio of all their hard work. The notebooks also serve as study material when students are studying for their tests. We had a successful first year of Computer Science Discovery. The micro:bit kits were a hit and student were able to get hands on instruction and learning on how software can directly impact hardware.\r\nOne unexpected benefit to this project is that many students have expressed interest in pursuing more studies in engineering. I'll be trying to implement a Principles of Engineering course in the 27/28 school year and we can reuse these kits in that class to do more advance engineering techniques. The new set of books will work great for several years to come.
