Let's start by explaining how awesome and precious my students are despite the challenges they face every day. Their problems range from broken homes, abuse, neglect, drug addictions and the list goes on and on. The same students come to school every day craving the attention from their teachers, hoping to receive the support of their peers, and best of all working towards a better future. While other children may take technology for granted, my students are fascinated by the little that we have. The first time my Algebra 2 students had access to a graphing calculator they were so fascinated by it, they were afraid of scratching it or accidentally breaking it. My Algebra I students have not even seen a graphing calculator because I don't have enough for everyone to share. They want a chance at life and our school and teachers want to give them that chance.
