Every Fun Friday has been counting treats day in our class. All of the students look forward to counting treats/Fun Fridays due to their enjoyment and excitement to counting and eating their goodies such as Skittles, Frosted Animal Crackers, Oreos Mini cookies, and more. Every Friday my young scholars get the same giggly conversational chatters all around the class just like the first day they received the packages. Students are introduced to three to four kinds of snacks prior to counting their treats. Every Friday new snacks/treats are unveiled for the day. When that time comes, the children would clap and cheer in their own way. I often hear, \"Yes, that's my favorite, and yum.\" \r\n\r\nWe are grateful for the galore of treats that have been allowing my class to sort and count by 1s and 10s toward meeting the kindergarten standards. The majority of the class have surpassed counting to 100 by 1s and 10s. We just starting the 2nd semester of the school year, but my young scholars are already exceeding their grade level standards in math; mastering their number sense. We would not have been able to reach such accomplishment without your generous donation. Thank you is not sufficient to express our gratitude for your support and being a part of our success. Our class appreciate your kindness and will continue to grow as mathematicians.","fullyFundedDate":1757521852963,"projectUrl":"project/yummy-counting-collections/9473093/","projectTitle":"Yummy Counting Collections","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1286552_orig.jpg?crop=2146,2146,x169,y401&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752821221762","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1286552"},{"teacherId":1342185,"projectId":8968662,"letterContent":"Thank you for your helping us acquire these fun resources. My students were excited to see the games we received, and even more excited to play them. My students love working on their math skills by using them. They enjoy conversing and actively manipulating objects while working out math word problems. They enjoy using the Libra Frog Intelligent Game to verify if their answers and math equations are correct. They enjoy using the little frog manipulatives to add and subtract. My students get excited matching numerals and images while playing Zingo 123. They see this as a fun activity instead of a boring task. My class is consisted of Kindergarteners (I refer them as Smarties) ages 5 and 6. When they helped with opening the different types of fidgets and toys, they wanted to work with them right away. Some of their favorites were the Unicorn Stretchy Strings Toys, the Squishy Animals, and the Pin Art Boards.\r\n\r\nOne the first day, the students were able to keep a Squishy Animal on their desk as their very own fidget to use as needed. They enjoyed feeling/using it so much during independent work time, they wore them out within two weeks. \r\n\r\nMy Smarties have different levels of abilities and needs in our class. Some Smarties are highly intelligent social-emotionally, kinesthetically, and some struggle with attentiveness and self-management skills. Therefore, most of the resources such as the Wobble Cushion Set, the Stress Balls, Sensory Liquid Motion Bubbler Timers Set, and more are being used for helping students to destress. Another use has been to increase focus in learning and management their feelings and bodies. A calming corner had been created to house most of the resources for the class to access. One of my usual Smarties needs about 5 minutes once a week in the calming corner with the Pin Art Board and the Sensory Liquid Motion Bubbler Timers Set after recess break.\r\n\r\nDuring instructional time, the Unicorn Stretchy Strings Toys has been helping one student refocus his attention on learning rather than nonstop looking and picking his fingers until we see red. This fidget was his third kind, and the only one that did the trick. I am so thankful that we were able to have a varieties of fidgets and autism toys for my class to accommodate the strengths and needs of all of my Smarties. We are forever grateful for the everlasting impact you have given us. Thank you again for your compassion.","fullyFundedDate":1727289811893,"projectUrl":"project/be-cool-and-compassionate/8627748/","projectTitle":"Be Cool and Compassionate","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1286552_orig.jpg?crop=2146,2146,x169,y401&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752821221762","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1286552"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7400","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":202,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.1,"schoolId":7400,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about 2nd Street Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"2nd Street Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/2nd-street-elementary-school/7400"}
