This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with 24 lively, energetic, and eager to learn 5-year-olds. My students live in Lincoln Heights which is a neighborhood in East Los Angeles. The people in the community I serve are hard-working individuals that want to ensure their children have better educational opportunities than they might have had.
Parents are very involved and supportive of their children's learning needs, however, they are limited in their resources and often times cannot support their child's English language development because they are non-English speakers and lack resources.
I serve a large population of immigrant families who are struggling to make a living. Our school is Title I and offers free breakfast and lunch to all students.
The families in our community have been struggling financially and, now more than ever, will need support, resources, and community outreach.
My Project
My student's daily and school life abruptly changed on the day we learned that schools would be closing down due to a pandemic. Although the schools are physically shut down, learning must continue.
The two Apple Ipads will enable me to continue zooming as a means to provide students the opportunity for learning while integrating media and other resources to their lessons.
Young children rely vastly on visuals that aid their learning. The additional devices can be integrated as a whiteboard and to display other media resources such as educational applications and learning videos to maximize understanding.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
