My students need a document camera and LCD projector so they can easily view science and math demonstrations that are given by the teachers and their peers.

My Students

Can you imagine trying to gather forty-four students around a table to watch a science experiment or see a demonstration of a math concept. That is the challenge we experience in our room on a daily basis.

Our class is made up of forty-four students and two teachers.

We range in age from eight to eleven years old (plus two slightly older learners/teachers). Our unique group spends their days learning through experiments, role-playing in simulations, putting on class musicals,and working together in cooperative groups and workshops. As a multiage class our students spend three years with us learning a curriculum that is always changing and growing.

My Project

Sharing with a group of elementary students is difficult in a traditional sized class. In one that is made up of three grades, it is a daily challenge. With a document camera and LCD projector we will be able to share science experiments as if they are sitting around the table with a small group. Demonstrating math concepts with manipulatives will be more meaningful because the children can see what is being shown easily. Picture books that help us teach can be seen as if we are sitting right next to each one of them. Our large class will become much smaller with this technology.

This technology can help bring what is being shared closer to our students.

We will be able to keep them engaged and involved in their learning and also help them to teach their classmates in a meaningful way.
