Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we have a limited supply of cameras and lenses for our students and teachers to use at important events like graduation, International Night, honor and merit roll, and cultural celebrations. Through Donors Choose fundraising, we have a camera in rotation amongst our club leaders, PBIS student leaders, and social media teams. We use this camera to take photos and videos of important events that unify the school. The difference this initiative has made is remarkable, as our school Instagram now approaches 5,000 followers. Our community enjoys seeing the progress of our school.

We need a telephoto lens for our social media camera.

Graduation is coming! During this upcoming time, besides the graduation ceremony itself, there are many events: Students walk through the elementary schools and speak to crowds of younger children about the importance of school; each academy has a separate celebration with guest speakers; and so much more. At this time, the only telephoto lens in the school belongs to the TV Media and Photography department. We need one for social media to capture these important moments.

This lens will also be useful next year as we open up a new campus for our school. Unfortunately, as there is no budget for social media, we must fundraise ourselves. Donors Choose is a perfect vehicle to do so. Please help us acquire this telephoto lens for our camera.
