Zoo Fun!

Help me give my students animal headbands and zookeeper books to teach us about the zoo before our zoo field trip.

My Project

All students love to learn new information on exciting animals! Over half of my kindergarten students have not been to our local zoo so we are bringing zoo facts to them. My students will get to read about animals, as well as see pictures of animals. We are going to do small group rotations so each student will become an "expert" on 1 animal. We will make posters to hang around our room that will categorize water/land animals into groups for students to learn and connect with.

We are a project based learning school, incorporating hands- on engaging lessons to motivate our students to want to learn more, and we are going to do so, through fun, zoo animal books!

Our second PBL project entails students learning about specific zoo animals, being the expert, and being able to teach other students about their animal.

I have books about animals from our local zoo: penguins, seahorses, walruses, sea turtles, sharks, octopus/squids, polar bears, puffins, wolves, tigers, sea otters, elephants, foxes, and meerkats.

These books will inform students about each animal's habitat, diet, offspring, and other important facts.

Once we get to go to the zoo on our field trip, students will wear cute headbands about the animals they were experts on! They will also get to keep the Zookeeper book and take it home to share with their families.
