Zones of Regulation: Help Us Understand Our Feelings

Help me give my students Zones of Regulation books (3), a poster, a tool kit, and a Spot of Learning Emotions book, and plush emotions.

My Students

Every day, I have the joy of creating memories of success, failure, and perseverance while teaching an amazing group of second graders.

My second graders want to be the best they can; yet, our state is last in school funding.

We are a Title I school where everyone receives free breakfast, and most receive free or reduced-price lunches. Many of my students come from trauma-filled backgrounds and low-income​ families, and they will be the first to go to college.

Despite these struggles, my scholars are still inquisitive. They are full of questions, from the iconic, "Why is the sky blue?" to this question I was asked the other day, "Why do apples come in different colors?"

I want my students to further their curiosity by learning how to read, write, do the math, and know the world. I also want them to go home and share learning with their families.

My Project

My students have not experienced a normal or regular school year yet because of the pandemic.

The Zones of Regulation requested resources will assist my students in understanding their feelings, communicating their feelings, and give them tools of what to do when they are feeling angry, mad, glad, sad, etc.

The requested materials include lesson plans, two books to read to the students, a poster that is visual for my students of how to regulate their emotions, and a tool kit to visually assist them as they learn.

"Spot" books are a classroom favorite, and the included plush will allow students to nonverbally identify what they are feeling. If a student is not calm, they can not learn academics!
