My reading and math groups ranging from kindergarteners to fifth graders consist of learners whom are hard-working and eager to learn. Unfortunately, all of my students are at least one year behind; most are 2 or more years behind grade-level expectations in reading, writing, and/or math. Over 70% of our school population come from low-income families and the entire school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Many of the 68 Falcons whom I have the pleasure to teach have little support at home to practice reading or speaking in English. Undeterred by their circumstances, my students are eager, smiling and hard working during the intense 45-minute intervention time blocks of instruction.
