Help me give my students some comfy cushions to sit on for our mindfulness practice and for our Morning Meetings! We also need curtains to decrease distractions from the playground!
Our school is a sweet neighborhood school full of excited students and hard-working parents. Our kiddos are so deserving. This project will support my third grade classroom and other third grade students at our school!
We are a Title I school, with 93% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Our students work hard and so do the parents of our community. Many work multiple jobs, late nights, or early mornings - and do a great job with helping their kiddos to the best of their ability.
Thank you for helping our kiddos fill their brain with the fun and excitement of grade level appropriate critical thinking games, experiences, materials, classroom supplies, books, virtual field trips, etc. We are grateful for your support!
My Project
Every morning, and often throughout the day, we meet as a class in Community Circle to check-in, experience collective learning, and to practice mindfulness! The kids sit in a circle on the carpet, but many often want a chair for more back support.
The cushions we are seeking will help students to sit with better posture and put their back in better alignment.
This is important because one of the skills we practice is mindfulness. Physical support may help students relax their body and, therefore, relax their mind and find deeper presence in the current moment.
Finally, our classroom is right next to our playground. We need sheer curtains which will still allow natural light into our big, beautiful windows, but will also help to eliminate distraction during our mindfulness practices and other learning times!
