This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are getting all lit up about electricity! The only problem is that there are not enough materials at school for each child to complete their own project. This introduction to electricity kit will enable each student to discover the inner workings of a battery. No sharing is necessary!

Students will explore the scientific process by brainstorming a theory and then testing their hypothesis.

They will explore parts in this kit until they create a working battery. They will listen to and reread electricity-based books on their reading level. Once they've read about batteries, they will research other texts about solar energy, wind power, etc.

Students in my class have mild to moderate learning delays that can make concentrating a challenge. The benefit of having their own headphones is that they are not as distracted by other students nearby who might be reading out loud or researching something different.
