My Project

My amazing students are all bright and shiny, but each is different and unique in their particular way. This is why I refer to them as my Diamonds. My classroom is very diverse. It comprises students of many other ethnicities, including African American, Hispanic, Caucasian, and Asian American. They all come from a low socio-economic background. Most of my Diamonds live with grandparents and other family members, and some are homeless and transient. Despite the struggles and adversities my students face, they always show up to school with smiles on their faces. They love school and are always ready to learn. However, their parents or guardians can't afford to purchase school supplies when they are having trouble putting food on the table. My mission is to provide them with what they need to be productive in their educational journey.

At times, my students get hungry in the middle of the day.

I have created a monthly snack calendar for each one of my students to have a day to bring a snack to share with the class. But unfortunately, my students can't afford to participate, and I have tried to do my best to provide what I can. I would like to have snacks on hand for my students when they are in need. Sometimes, the hunger pains take over, and then they lose focus on their academics. That is when the struggle starts and they need a snack or a treat to get back on track.
