My Students

As an educator in a rural, preK-5 school in Virginia, I have the privilege to teach amazing students who come from challenging backgrounds. I strive to give them opportunities that they may not get otherwise. These students are hungry for knowledge and acknowledgement of their worth and value. My goal is to make students aware of the importance of having a strong foundation in math, because math is everywhere! My experience has taught me that I must meet them where they are, so that I can push them forward and give them their own boots for walking!

My Project

As a math interventionist, I believe that students learn best when they are engaged and actively involved in their own learning. Through Osmo Numbers, students learn to be efficient with mental math as they strive to be successful in the game. Learning becomes practically accidental when motivation to achieve comes from within. Osmo Numbers is engaging enough for students to learn without even realizing they're learning.

George Bernard Shaw is attributed in saying, "A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing." By doing Osmo Numbers, students will make mistakes and will get instant feedback, allowing them to quickly fix and learn from their mistakes.
