This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I for one have experienced the power of books. As a child, I was lost for hours in the world of Lewis Carroll and James Herriot. Reading took me to where I am today, and I want every student I teach to have this same experience.

I have a wide variety of students who range from excited and enthusiastic readers to reluctant grumblers that will make up any excuse to do something other than read.

The push they need is diverse material that will catch their interests and then keep them hooked.

My Project

The titles I have chosen range from Meg Cabot books to science fiction titles with the intention that both boys and girls will find engaging material to keep them occupied. I have also selected books that have thematic relevance to the low-income urban areas where they reside. They are all intended to serve as independent reading materials.

This project is necessary because my school has no library, and so for many of the kids I teach, these books will be their only option for independent reading.

Please give to my project because every child deserves a good book.
