This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in inner-city schools. Students of all backgrounds need exposure to music education. Most of the time for inner city schools, funding takes a backstage to music education, a vital resource to develop a well-rounded and capable member of society. We do get instruments from time to time, but very sparsely, and a lot of times these are hand-me-downs from the community. These instruments are always welcome but require repair and the cost of the repairs can be just as expensive as new instruments. This is why I am asking for repair materials. I will be able to repair our instruments in need at no cost to our very small budget. This will put more instruments in the students' hands and in turn create opportunities for countless inner-city students to get ahead in their schooling and prepare them for their future.
