Teaching in beautiful interior Alaska, I am proud to work with curious, thoughtful, and energetic children.
My students are creative and motivated, and they love learning.
They like to read, write, and draw about their lives and interests. They love positive attention, hands-on activities, singing, and tying art in with academic subjects. Some of them face challenges inside and outside of school; all of them are remarkable individuals.
When the children walk in my classroom door, they are met with a smile and a positive comment to welcome them to a fantastic day of school. I focus on their potential, interests, and growth. Every one of them wants to learn, and I can help facilitate the best day possible.
My Project
These art supplies, like quality watercolor paper, vibrant colors construction paper, black cardstock, no-spill paint containers, and metallic markers, will be used to make memorable artwork while tying in reading skills and science.
We want our beautiful projects to pop!
We have been practicing our letter sounds, which inspired our first project idea. Students will write the alphabet on quality watercolor paper, trace over with crayons, and use the no-spill paint containers to hold liquid watercolor paint that we'll use to paint right over the top of our letters for a crayon resist effect. Once dry, we will mount our artwork on black cardstock to make this literacy keepsake sturdy. Other project ideas include owl creations with metallic markers on black cardstock to accompany an owl science unit and painted storytelling trading cards made on watercolor paper and vibrant colors construction paper with special art techniques.
