My Students
Our classroom is a safe place for students to come and know that no matter what is going on in their life, we will make them feel welcomed and accepted by everyone. The class is a mix of general education students, special education students, and students in need of Academic Intervention Services (AIS). These students come from a variety of economic backgrounds which means that the students come to us at many different levels.
Our classroom design and learning experiences help students develop tolerance for people from all walks of life.
Creating a comfortable learning environment and providing many different types of learning experiences contribute to the success of our students.
My Project
Growing up I remember my teacher saying "You'll never carry around a calculator in your pocket". I could have never imagined how much more I would carry in my pocket with a smartphone. In 6th grade, students can begin to use calculators during math since computation skills have been mastered. I currently ask my students to bring their own calculator as part of their school supplies, but I would like to be able to have a class set instead.
Having a set of calculators will allow me to lower the cost of school supplies for families while still having necessary materials for school.
Although this might seem like a simple tool, students do need instruction on how to use it as a math tool correctly. Please help me provide this necessary tool for my students!
